Adding a Third Color to Black and White Interior Design
Are you worried that your black and white interior design is getting a little bit stale? Do you sometimes wish for a little more “oomph”? Well, you’re in luck! Thankfully, this particular color combo is easy to accent with a wide variety of colors – and if you plan your purchases right, you can switch the accent color seasonally for an exciting twist!
Adding a third color is largely a process of experimentation. The palette suggestions below might spark a few interior design ideas that really fit.
1. Modern Sensibility
You know the rules of modern interior design: anything goes as long as it is sensible, functional, and cleanly attractive. Clearly, you don’t have to add anything to a black and white room to keep it contemporary, but why not get creative? Rich natural woods, brushed silver, and jewel tones are a great place to start your experimentation.
2. Soft and Relaxing
Black and white interior design can be harsh. Have you ever wanted to make your white bedroom furniture look a little more inviting? Do you have a sun porch that needs a touch of tranquility? Black and white can still be relaxing with soft teals, earthy greens, and if you started with a warm white, your favorite shades of cream.
3. Playfully Bright
You can’t go wrong with a strong, bright color to accent a black and white room. Neon green, hot pink, electric blue – these colors all say a lot about the attitude and personality that you want to cultivate in a particular space, so pick your favorite and let loose.
Remember though: patterns and textures are still very important! Big blocks of color are rarely attractive when it comes to interior design. This is your chance to add extra dimension while breaking up the space; take advantage of it! There is nothing you can’t do with a little bit of color theory, a splash of creativity, and a penchant for interior design experimentation.
What I Like About My High Density Memory Foam Mattress
I am currently in the process of remodeling our bedroom to make it more comfortable for me and my wife. One of the things that we have done to achieve this goal was buying a high density memory foam mattress. We did this after careful review of the advantages and the disadvantages that come with having a high density foam mattress, as well as after numerous conversations with others who have this type of mattress. This article will discuss the things that I like about our high density memory foam mattress and how it fits in with our project of making our bedroom more comfortable.
Memory Foam Mattress
There is a lot to like about having a high density memory foam mattress. High density foam is used extensively in bedding and furniture applications because its tightly packed cellular structure (network of bubbles) allows air to pass through the cells whenever a load is applied to it, making the foam comfortable to sit on, or in our case, lie down on. Then, when the load is removed, the foam returns right back to its original shape and dimensions. This is why it is called memory foam, and is the biggest reason why this material is used so often in bedding. My wife and I just love the way that our high density memory foam mattress feels when we lie down on it. The mattress actually conforms to the shapes of our bodies while we are on it. You actually feel enveloped by the mattress for a nice, snug feeling. When it’s time to get up in the morning, you’re so comfortable that you don’t want to move. The one thing that we need to look out for is keeping our small children off of it, because the mattress will conform to their shapes and might keep them from being able to roll over or move around, which could cause suffocation if they are lying face down.
Window Film
The comfort provided by our memory foam mattress goes hand in hand with the other things that we have done to make our bedroom more comfortable. It all started when we put decorative frosted window film on our windows to help keep indoor heat from exiting through the windows during the winter, helping to keep the bedroom warmer. The film also helps us maintain our privacy as other people can’t see inside of our bedroom. Next, we might add some plush carpet to our floor to make it more comfortable to walk on.
As you can see, a high density memory foam mattress can go a long way toward improving the quality of your sleep and make your more comfortable.

Disabled People Can Use Doorless Walk In Shower Designs
When it comes to custom creating rooms in a house, there are specially designed products available for people who are handicapped. A person with an ongoing or temporary disability can be restricted to using a wheelchair to get around in. This can make taking a shower very difficult as most stalls do not allow for easy accessibility with a chair or crutches. The doorless walk in shower designs can be constructed as extra wide areas. The shower heads are positioned so the spray of water remains inside the area even though one side is left open.
The different styles for this type of unit include the curved walk in shower. This is a variation on the triangular corner design using a continuous circular wall rather than two or three flat ones. This unit can be placed in a corner of a room to increase the amount of floor space. There are also flat wall corner units which have a triangular shaped floor, which help increase the amount of space in a small room. The walls for these structures can be made of a clear Plexiglas, which attaches to the existing bathroom wall. The clear material allows the walls paint, wallpaper or tile to show through.
The corner units will not allow as much entry room as the traditional glass block walk in shower. This is the classic square shape, which requires the most amount of space to install. The advantage to this design is the ability of a wheel chair to clear the outer entrance. This unit is also available with clear walls or walls made of fiberglass. The fiberglass walls can come in different colors and textures to enhance the design of an existing bathroom. Attaching a hand-held spray nozzle to the shower head allows people who are seated to control the spray the use for washing.
Decorating Your Room With Wall Panels
When it comes to decorating a new home, there’s nothing worse than being short on ideas for how to decorate it. With so many options for furniture and art to choose from, your room could turn out almost any number of ways or be designed poorly if you’re not careful. If you’re not sure where to start, one of the best room decorating ideas you can begin with is repainting the walls. If you’re in a new house, you’re probably stuck with white or off-white colored walls. You can use your new paint color to express your personality or achieve a certain “vibe” for the room. Painting a room a dark color makes it moody and lighter and brighter colors give a feeling of “calm.”
Wall Colors
Once you’ve chosen a paint color and painted the walls, you can start building your furniture around the wall theme. Woods and darker toned furniture go well with dark colored walls. If you went with a lighter colored paint for the wall, white stained wooden furniture is great for a shabby chic look, and glass can be used for a more contemporary feel. Going with a lighter color on the walls definitely opens up more options in terms of furniture, but going dark shows that you aren’t shy about your tastes.
Wall Panels
If once you’ve gotten all of your new furniture into your room and it still looks bland, you could consider trying something like decorative wall panels. Wall panels are a good way to make a room seem a lot more interesting if a new coat of paint and some furniture didn’t do the trick. Wall panels work by taking a full sized painting and essentially chopping it into thirds or fourths so that the panels can be hung side by side with a few inches between each painting to give the illusion that they are all part of the same piece.
Arranging Wall Panels
If putting them side by side doesn’t do it for you, try hanging each part of the piece around the room. By using all 3 or 4 walls of your living room to hang parts of the same art piece, you can create a very disjointed look that will intrigue your visitors. If you’re unsure of what color to paint your walls in the first tip, try finding some wall panels with a color you’d like to follow and paint the walls a lighter shade of the main hue of the piece. The contrast between light and dark in the panels is sure to look great.
Picking Out Graber Shutters
Buying shutters can be difficult if you don’t know what you are doing. With the vast array of designs and styles to choose from, you may be tempted to buy many, buy a few or buy none. Buying Graber shutters however is a different story; it is the reason why customers keep on coming back to buy shutters and it is also the reason why new clients go and buy Graber over the competition.
One such reason is the ease of purchasing Graber shutters. There are multiple ways to do so from the old method of going to the store and getting one yourself or shifting through the numerous options online, which would make your job of going through each design option and each color much simpler. You can also ask the company to customize a shutter for you by selecting variables such as the louver size, the shutter color, the design, the mechanism with which it is open with, amongst others. With this being said, there is no simpler way of going about picking up wood plantation shutters or hurricane shutters the way Graber allows you to.
Graber also has some innovative designs, which would impress even the pickiest of customers. One such design is the Bi-Fold pattern, which allows you to fold the shutter like an accordion, so that you would have an unrestricted view through the window opening. This is particularly useful in situations wherein you’d want to see through the whole of the window, like during festivals or during days with a cool breeze. Another design is the patented Hide-A-Tilt, wherein it gives you a better view of the window due to the removal of the tilt bar, allowing for a much better view. These two are the premier designs which are what most of the clients purchase because no other company has these two in their stores.
Picking shutters can be made easier by picking Graber and buying from them instead of from other companies. They are a leading brand and are already experts in the field of shutters. You’d not only be happy with what you bought but with the ease at which you bought them.
Looking Into Cheap Corner Sofas
A terrific investment for virtually any home is a corner sofa. In many cases, when a room is designed, how best one might use the corner space available is not the designer’s top priority. Corner sofas which work well in both large and small rooms, offer the user great help in meeting the challenges and best utilizing the corner spaces that are available.
There are any number of reasons one might think about buying one. Obviously, making the very best use of the corner space is probably the top one. Creating an intimate and personal corner area is always a popular option to be considered. And of course, when it is a relatively small space to work within, these pieces optimize the use of that space.
Locating and purchasing cheap corner sofas is a great idea for many these days who are struggling with the confines of a very tight budget with which to work. This raises the question about where it might be best to look, and as with most things in today’s modern world, the answer is to begin the search by going online. There are a wide variety of manufacturers and retailers competing for the business to be found. Most of these folks are extending various sales and bargains in an effort to attract one’s business. There is certainly a much greater chance of locating that special bargain here than there is traipsing around to any number of local furniture dealerships.
One other good place to keep one’s eyes open for would be to watch for any clearance sales that may be occurring at any given time. Even if one finds cheap sofas that fill the bill but are not exactly their personal choice of color or fabric, they should keep in mind that they can easily customize them to perfectly fill their needs.
How to Design a House with Your Spouse
Designing a house with a loved one can really be a little bit difficult at times. You may each have attachments to furniture pieces that just don’t go together very well. You can find ways to make all of your favorite pieces work together and get wall colors that you can both agree on whether it’s kitchen door handles or shabby chic bedding.
If you are doing DIY projects this can be a huge source of contention. You might just want to have a project manager. This is going to be where one of you is in charge of project. It allows one person to carry out their vision. However, the next time they’re going to have to really listen to your thoughts and feelings when you are the project manager.
One conflict that you’re really going to see a lot of is going to be your furniture. You might have some delicate glass end tables that you really love. Your husband may have a black leather recliner that he just won’t get rid of because it is so comfortable. These pieces may initially just seem very mismatched and they generally are. You can find ways to work around this. For instance you could just paint the base of the tables in a black tone and then add a trendy damask print throw blanket to your leather chair.
Wall colors can also be a source of contention. You may want more of a feminine cottage look with pale lavender’s or even rose tones. Your spouse may just think that this is too feminine and he wants a more dramatic gray tone. You can compromise just by going with one color for the walls and another color for the furniture. Then you can find window treatments that are going to use both of these tones together for the perfect marriage of masculine and feminine elements.
Buying Bound Carpet Remnants
The first time a person shops for area rugs, one thing is almost always guaranteed – sticker shock. Area rugs can be extremely expensive. For example, a rug large enough to fit under a small dining room table can cost upwards of two hundred dollars! Fortunately, for people not willing to shell out this much cash for something that will be walked on, spilled on and replaced in only a few years, there is another, more economical option. Bound carpet remnants are simply leftover pieces of carpeting cut to standard sizes and finished along the edges so they do not fray or unravel.
Most carpet remnants are created with leftovers from a carpeting job that are too small to be used for wall-to-wall carpeting, but are large enough to act as an area rug. Most specialty flooring stores will have a wide selection of bound carpet remnants. However, because this inventory is essentially scrap pieces, the stock will rotate often and there may not be the possibility of buying several matching pieces to use for rugs throughout the home. There will be a lot of carpets in neutral colors that will coordinate with each other; so matching remnants are not always a requirement.
When shopping for a carpet remnant, there are a few keys to keep in mind. It is important to know the size of the area that the rug will be used in. Most remnants are non-returnable, so if it is the wrong size, you could be stuck with a piece of carpet that is not needed. Also, keep an open mind. Having a too specific idea of what you want in a carpet will dramatically limit the choices. Have an idea of the general colors or patterns, but be willing to look at other items. Finally, these remnants are usually taking up space at a retailer and are not worth much to them, so do not be afraid to haggle for a lower price.
Is Hinkley Lighting a Better Choice?
Most people shop for lighting fixtures by going into the local home and garden store, finding the lighting section and then looking around until something jumps out at them. Sometimes they are looking for something specific. Sometimes they have a general idea of the use or style they are looking for. They need a porch light fixture or want a chandelier for the dining room. Rarely does anyone decide to buy the fixture made by Hinkley Lighting, Quoizel Lighting or any of the other lighting manufacturers.
If shoppers knew more about Hinckley Lighting, they might change the way they shop for lighting fixtures.
