Evolution of TV Stands
In the last 15 years or so, the shape of our televisions has changed totally. With the change from the old CRT TV to the LCD TV its not just the looks of our TV that is different but it has also made us rethink the furniture in our living rooms. Before we used LCD TVs we not only had to consider the diagonal measurement of the TV but also the space we needed behind the TV. CRT TVs were very bulky at the back, some of them were two feet deep or more. LCD televisions these day no more than a few inches thick. If you are using an LCD TV with an old style TV stand then you are going to have a lot of wasted space behind your TV.
You will find a couple of solutions for this and they both require you to buy an LCD TV stand. Designers make LCD TV stand designs to utilise all of the space available, even that behind the TV. The first thing you should think about is whether you will need to adjust the height of the stand. The average adjustable LCD TV stand can be set between three and five feet. If you would rather have your TV sitting higher then you might want to consider a wall or ceiling mounting. You will need to check the weight limitations of the TV stand as well. If you already own or are planning on buying a plasma TV stand, these can be pretty heavy, so make sure the stand can take the strain. If you are going to moving the TV set around the room or house, then be sure to get a TV stand with wheels.
It really does pay to know in advance what size of TV you are going to be using with your new LCD TV stand. If you take a look at local furniture, department and electrical goods stores you will no doubt find the perfect TV stand for your home.
