An Oval Rug is a Unique Way to Accent a Room

An oval rug is somewhat more unique than its square or rectangular counterparts. Its shape is rounded on the ends, yet it can provide plenty of length for a special area in the home. There are many different uses for this type of floor covering. It can be used in many different rooms, as an accent or a main design feature in the space.

It can soften a room full of contemporary furniture, which tends to be more squarish and straight. It will break up the monotony and add a bit more interest, particularly if placed under a straight coffee table. It can help to accentuate soft curves in window treatments or lamps in the room.

This item may look great under a dining table as well. Many dining sets are similarly shaped, especially when a center leaf is added. It can give the room a more unified look and will help set the dining area apart, in homes with a more open floor plan. In a bedroom, this item will look great placed next to a bed or on either side, if the head of the bed rests against the middle of a wall.

There are many fabrics this item can be found in. The classic braided carpets are still made today and can be found in family rooms and bedrooms. They are durable and very comfortable to walk on. This item is more versatile than a cheap shag rug in the bedroom, as it will look good no matter where you put it. It will last longer and is often reversible.

While there are no two pieces alike, you can find matching items for smaller coverage, such as in front of the sink and the refrigerator. Such items look good in entries of the home, just inside the door and in long hallways as well.
