The Various Types of Storage Boxes

April 27, 2010 · Posted in Home Accessories · Comment

There are a lot of different materials being used for storage boxes today. You can still find the traditional types made from cardboard, but there are many styles available in molded plastic. The plastic designs are popular because they generally come with a snap-on lid, which seals the box.

This makes storage boxes great to use for storing clothing items because they will not allow moisture inside. The boxes can then be placed in a basement or other out of the way area until the items are needed. The clothing placed inside will remain dry and free from mold or insect infestation while they are stored.

Many people find the cardboard units still handy to use for keeping papers in. These kinds of boxes are generally stored on a closet shelf or other interior space where moisture is not likely to accumulate. Some styles can double as filing boxes because they come with folders and hangers included.

The boxes used for storage of items can be found in a vast array of sizes. They allow you to store large items such as a comforter for a bed, or very small items such as loose screws or nails.

You may find some of the smaller boxes available in metal or wood designs. These are handy for keeping loose objects in that don’t have a specific area to be kept. Using the boxes helps keep your drawers and closet storage organized and makes fining items much easier when you need to use them.

You may also find some very large storage containers that are good to keep in the garage area for tools, outdoor toys or garden landscaping items. The type of box you choose depends on where you plan to store it and what you intend to place inside it. The price will also differ according to the size and material it is made of.

3 Great Uses of Fitted Wardrobes

A fitted wardrobe is a closet that is designed and installed on a one to one basis with a home. This means that it takes into account your home and its design, as well as any specific needs or look you might want in your wardrobes design. Fitted wardrobes have become a super popular bedroom item to have in England and other parts of Europe, yet it is slow to catch on in the United States and Canada. This is a shame because fitted wardrobes are fantastic looking – in fact, let’s get into three good reasons you’d want to consider having a fitted wardrobe.

1. Fitted Wardrobes Have a Modern Look To Them
A fitted wardrobe can be designed with the modern eye in mind. Contrast this with the next option in a line, a wardrobe armoire, and you can easily deduce which one of the two is going to have a more modern feel to it. If you’re going for a more antique look, than an armoire would work best – but if modern furniture is your flair, then a fitted wardrobe is something you’d love having in your bedroom.

2. They Make Excellent Use of Space You Couldn’t Use Before
Because a fitted wardrobe is quite literally fitted to your room, they end up utilizing storage space that was previously was just empty air. Furthermore, can you design a fitted wardrobe closet that will give you access to the space between the top of the wardrobe and the ceiling, providing yet even more storage for you and your things.

3. They Aren’t Cheap But They’re Not Prohibitively Expensive
Getting a fitted wardrobe installed is likely to cost between $1,000 and $5,000. Now, granted, this is not a small sum of money, but considering you get more space with a fitted wardrobe versus any other kind of closet storage set up, this unit is a great deal for the money. Additionally, it’s modern and sleek design is something that does cost money – but you get what you pay for, as always!

Some people may be content to simply buy a free standing closet or a portable closet for a hundred or a thousand dollars. However, if you need something more modern looking that also provides way more closet storage space, a fitted wardrobe is an excellent choice.
