There are a wide variety of styles you can choose from when deciding on conservatory blinds.  Whether you are looking for something formal and elegant, or more modern, you should be able to easily find something that suits your overall decor and falls within the price range you are willing to pay.

Some of the different types of conservatory blinds are:

Roller blinds:  These are the cheapest out of all the options. They are easy to keep clean and maintain and so easy to install that you can do it yourself. They do tend to blow around quite a bit if the conservatory windows are opened and you may need to install side runners to help keep them in place.

Roman blinds: Roman blinds come in a variety of different styles. They are very easy to install also.  This type of blind is great for a conservatory blind as it can fold up or down, making it fairly easy to control the sunlight that comes into your conservatory.  The prices vary depending on what material and style you want but in general they are some of the cheapest blinds you can install in your conservatory.

Pleated blinds: The most expensive and yet the most popular option of conservatory blinds are pleated blinds.  They look very nice; though if you choose this option, be advised that you will probably need to have someone come over to help put them up as they are not a ‘do it yourself’ type of blind.

You can also match the style of blinds you hang in your conservatory, having one style of blinds for the roof and a different style, yet matching in color and material, for the windows.

As long as you are sure to match the color of the blinds to the color of the furniture you already have, conservatory blinds are sure to enhance your conservatory décor as well as help in keeping the room at a more bearable temperature both during summer and winter.

Conservatory Roof Blinds – Ask The Experts.

If you want to know about a particular subject, you should ask the experts.  So when we wanted to know a bit about conservatory roof blinds we decided to talk to some home improvement experts to see if they could give us a few tips on whether or not to get roof blinds for our conservatory.

The first thing we were asked was whether or not we had built our conservatory yet.  If we were still in the planning stage, we had a lot more options with regard to overhead protection for the conservatory.  ‘The first thing you should know’, one expert told us, ‘is that it is very important to have some sort of protection in the roof of your conservatory.  The sun is very strong in the summer months and is directly above a conservatory beating down on the room and its inhabitants.  By not having some sort of reflective properties in the glazing or conservatory roof blinds you are leaving yourself open to a lot of UV rays’.

Glazing options include solar controlled glass and polycarbonate glazing with solar inserts fitted.  If the conservatory is already constructed you can put a glazing window film onto the interior of the glazing that will reflect over 95% of the sun’s rays.  However conservatory roof blinds offer protection for the sun and also are an attractive accessory for the interior of the room.

Other advantage to roof blinds over other forms of glazing protection are that they offer increased privacy if it is needed from neighbouring buildings and also they give excellent shade and protection from glare during the day if you want to control the level of light entering the room.

The experts recommended that online was a great place to start looking for conservatory roof blinds.  Popular types of blinds include roller blinds and pleated blinds.  Exterior blinds can even be fitted to the outside of the structure if for some reason a homeowner does not want blinds inside the room.
