Why you should choose a dressing table.
The dressing table is often overlooked when it comes to furnishing a bedroom or a dressing room, with people focusing mainly on the major items you would expect to find in every bedroom – such as the bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and maybe a bedside cabinet. However, not having a dressing table is probably one of the biggest mistakes you’ll never know you make. Its not until you actually own one that you can appreciate the benefits and you will then wonder how you ever managed without one.
A good dressing table will stay with you for a long time, especially if you opt for a solidly built wooden dressing table such a Pine, or Oak Dressing Table (from the Brooklyn Oak Furniture Range for example). O.K. these may be more expensive but they will last a lot longer than a flat-packed piece of plywood and chipboard. The 3 main styles of dressing table are Double Pedestal, Single Pedestal and Console. Which one you should choose is entirely up to you; each one will serve the purpose beautifully, but the choice will probably be geared by 2 major factors; space and cost.
Ideally you do not want to buy a dressing table that is too large for the room it is going into – the double pedestal dressing table is usually the largest style and consequently the most expensive. It will come with 2 columns of drawers (one on either side), or maybe drawers on one side and a cupboard on the other. As you can imagine with style will provide more than adequate storage space for all your cosmetic needs. If you don’t have room for a double pedestal dressing table then the ideal compromise is the single pedestal. This, as the name suggests, will provide one column of drawers only but will still prove big enough to satisfy your needs. The console table is smaller still and will generally have 1 row of drawers running underneath the table top.
So you have chosen a dressing table that is large enough to accommodate all your make-up, your hair care products and your moisturiser and you are now ready to go. You will soon learn that the dressing table has become your best friend when it refuses to let you face the world until you look absolutely perfect. Go give it a go, you won’t be disappointed.
