What I Like About My High Density Memory Foam Mattress

I am currently in the process of remodeling our bedroom to make it more comfortable for me and my wife. One of the things that we have done to achieve this goal was buying a high density memory foam mattress. We did this after careful review of the advantages and the disadvantages that come with having a high density foam mattress, as well as after numerous conversations with others who have this type of mattress. This article will discuss the things that I like about our high density memory foam mattress and how it fits in with our project of making our bedroom more comfortable.

There is a lot to like about having a high density memory foam mattress. High density foam is used extensively in bedding and furniture applications because its tightly packed cellular structure (network of bubbles) allows air to pass through the cells whenever a load is applied to it, making the foam comfortable to sit on, or in our case, lie down on. Then, when the load is removed, the foam returns right back to its original shape and dimensions. This is why it is called memory foam, and is the biggest reason why this material is used so often in bedding. My wife and I just love the way that our high density memory foam mattress feels when we lie down on it. The mattress actually conforms to the shapes of our bodies while we are on it. You actually feel enveloped by the mattress for a nice, snug feeling. When it’s time to get up in the morning, you’re so comfortable that you don’t want to move. The one thing that we need to look out for is keeping our small children off of it, because the mattress will conform to their shapes and might keep them from being able to roll over or move around, which could cause suffocation if they are lying face down.

Window Film

The comfort provided by our memory foam mattress goes hand in hand with the other things that we have done to make our bedroom more comfortable. It all started when we put decorative frosted window film on our windows to help keep indoor heat from exiting through the windows during the winter, helping to keep the bedroom warmer. The film also helps us maintain our privacy as other people can’t see inside of our bedroom. Next, we might add some plush carpet to our floor to make it more comfortable to walk on.

As you can see, a high density memory foam mattress can go a long way toward improving the quality of your sleep and make your more comfortable.

UV Rays Can Be Stopped With Window Tint

It’s a great thing to let sunshine into the home, but in some areas of the house, the sun can actually damage your interior.  The sun can heat up the whole house and make you have to cool rooms much more, which has an impact on your energy bill.  On top of that, UV rays can damage your furniture and carpeting.  UV tinted window film can help with this and make your furniture safe from the harmful UV sunlight.

There are a variety of window types to choose from.  If you have a room that’s in the sunlight for most of the day, you definitely need a high UV window film rating.  Any window film that blocks out 90% or more of sunlight can be very beneficial to your home.

On top of just keeping the sun from fading out your sofa and carpeting, it can also reduce your energy bill.  Window film can reflect the sun directly out of the room, which will lower the temperature of your house and also keep you from needing to run the air conditioner as much.  This means a lower electricity bill.

Frosted window film is great for blocking out light, and it can also be stored in the winter if you don’t want to keep it on all year.  The window film can be applied easily, and is better  installed with a helper.  When you want to change things in your home, remove it and store it.

Qualifying window film can actually give you a tax credit thanks to the stimulus plan.  If you purchase the right kind of film before December 31, 2010, you might be eligible.  This tax credit can be worth up to 30%, capping out at a maximum of $1500 with installation.  Not only will this improve the look of your home, but also, you’ll have the government to help you pay for it.

Ultimately, a tax credit is better than just a deduction.  This is because a deduction is only a percentage of write offs, depending on your own personal tax bracket.  With a tax credit, you’ll actually get a dollar translation for your tax bill, reducing it  great amount.
