If your home has lots of open spaces and large stretches of empty walls, or maybe just want to add a new piece of furniture to your home, either way console tables are the perfect idea. Original console tables would have been fixed to the walls and only had two legs. They would have been used as display tables to show off things like trophies and other items of pride. More recently they have become a “catch all” for everything from car keys to hats and the daily mail next to the front door. They are great place to keep things that you normally forget on your way out the door.

Console tables a great for placing in hallways, which are normally narrow and don’t have space for larger pieces of furniture. Hallways normally look pretty bare, and adding photos and art to the walls don’t really add much. Console tables also work pretty well in your living room since they are now made with four legs rather than two there is no need to keep them near a wall, they can be placed anywhere you want them.

Before you head out an buy a console table remember that they come in a number of sizes. If you have a particularly small space to fill make sure that you take measurement before you go out and be sure to leave a few inches either size of the table so it can be moved in and out easily. Also, if you are going to use the table to sit a lamp on, then make sure the plug sockets are close by.

Console tables have hundreds of uses, you are bound only by your imagination. Console tables have been used for years for adding storage and filling empty spaces that won’t take larger furniture. Now you too know what piece of furniture will finish off your room perfectly.
