There are many different sizes available when it comes to buying a stainless steel teapot, ranging from the small one cup teapots to large teapots that can brew enough tea for a whole host of people. Mind you, tea is actually much easier to brew in smaller amounts. You can more accurately gauge the strength and the taste of the tea. Tea brewed in large teapots may also cool down before you have had a chance to serve everyone, resulting in a rather insipid cool or over-brewed cup of tea.
For personal home use, some people like to buy several different sized stainless steel teapots. The one or two cup teapot is perfect for everyday use, the four or six cup teapot great for when you are entertaining or serving tea to your whole family after dinner.
You should also judge the size needed by whether you drink your tea in small, dainty teacups or in mugs. Thus, a 24 ounce teapot that would serve four cups of tea may only serve two big mugs of tea.

It can be quite challenging to brew a great cup of tea when you are making it in large quantities. That is not to say that it cannot be done, but it is very challenging to not only have the tea tasting just right but to also pour everyone’s cup before the tea has cooled down. As everyone who drinks tea knows, if serving hot tea it should be hot, not warm.
An alternative that some have used very successfully, even when catering to larger crowds, is to buy bulk small stainless steel teapots, similar to those commonly used in restaurants or tea shops. These can be served, along with the tea accessories to individuals or individual tables, while the brewed tea can be set on a warming plate and served into the individual teapots as requested.
